In this chapter, I devoted time to preparing materials and to stressing the quality of work that should go into those materials. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for a student's materials to appear as though a career designer has something to do with the package. Properly prepared materials demonstrate that a person has pride in himself or herself and the work that he or she does.

Many radio stations now say, "Just e-mail it." Radio is a "got to have it yesterday" kind of business, and students should maintain a "secure" pdf file of their resume and a quality mp3 file of their audition CD along with an introductory e-mail message similar to the letter they send with the hard copies of their materials.
