Poisonous and Allergy Plants

Chapter Concepts

1. Poisonous plants are everywhere in the environment, including some of the most common wild, yard, and houseplants, and many accidental poisonings, especially of young children, occur each year.

2. Many plants have evolved chemicals that protect them from insects and other pests; some of these chemicals are being used as natural insecticides.

3. Certain plants are capable of triggering allergic reactions ranging from respiratory allergies to contact dermatitis.
