Data Entry. Not all thematic data are available as shapefiles or similar map layers. This exercise covers how to bring data tables into ArcMap for thematic mapping. Skills covered in the exercise include: browsing an attribute table, adding a field to an attribute table, editing an attribute table, sorting records in an attribute table, viewing descriptive statistics for a field, joining a data table to an attribute table, selecting fields for display in the attribute table, and exporting an attribute table.

The mapping project file ([exercise name].mxd) and data files (contained in a separate folder) are compressed as a ZIP file and must be unzipped in order to work. Save the file to a location on your computer or external drive and unzip it.
