According to interactionists, the class backgrounds of students overly influence their teachers. They tend to expect good performance from high-income students and poor performance from low-income students, regardless of the academic talents of these students. The students then perform in a way that is consistent with these expectations. Were you subject to the teacher-expectancy effect in school? It is difficult to assess this issue with a few retrospective survey questions, but answering the questions below will allow you to see whether you and others perceive that you were subject to the teacher-expectancy effect.
