Traditionally, boxing has been an exclusively male activity. WBAN (Women's Boxing Archive Network) showcases women who have deviated from these gender roles by entering the ring. Visit this website at (www.womenboxing.com/), and answer the following questions.
  1. Why do you think it is that boxing has traditionally been a male sport?
  2. What might be some common reactions to female boxers?
Link to Boxer's Profiles on the left-hand side of the page, and look through the profiles of some of the boxers.
  1. What kind of information is presented about each boxer? Do the articles make an issue of the fact that these boxers are women?
  2. What do you think of the photographs of the boxers? Do any of the women purposefully present themselves in an especially feminine light, or not? Why is this the case, in your view?
