Activity 1: Slang (Definition) Directions: Think of a word used as slang that has a separate formal meaning
(for example "cool," "sweet," "wicked," etc.) Write a paragraph that describes
a setting in which you would use the word as slang. Then, visit the Merriam-Webster's
online dictionary and find the word's formal meaning. Write a second paragraph
that explains the difference in the two (or more) meanings. Is one definition
the "true" meaning? How do listeners know the difference?
