Many cancers develop from epithelial tissue. These include lung, colon, and skin cancers. What are two attributes of this tissue type that makes cancer more likely to develop?

When infected with certain bacteria or viruses, our bodies produce a febrile, or fever, response. Fevers occur when the hypothalamus changes its temperature set point. Signaling of the hypothalamus could be direct (from the infectious agent itself) or indirect (from the immune system). Which of these would enable the hypothalamus to respond to the greatest variety of infectious agents? Is there any disadvantage to such a signaling system?
