What does it cost students to attend your college or university, and how do they raise the money? Make a survey and obtain plenty of anecdotal information. Include in the cost side of the ledger tuition, room and board, entertainment, travel, payment of debts, laundry, etc.
On the income side include savings, jobs, loans, grants and scholarships, assistance from home, etc.
Reach some general conclusions: Do students have to skimp to get by? Do they consider entertainment (movies, DVDs, video equipment) part of their necessities? What have they had to eliminate? Do they find they will be able to graduate without taking an extended period away from school to earn money?
