1.3 Death in the Visual Arts

There are many sites on the Internet that hold images of death. In your course work during the term, you will find many interesting death-related images. An easy way to get a quick view of a number of images is to access Google and click on images at the top of the search menu. Once you have set the search engine to select images, type a word like death or dying into the search block and press enter.

Scroll down through the results of your search until you find an image that interests you. Click on this image to give you a full-size picture along with the site using this visual. Navigate to the site listed and investigate the context in which this image is used.

1
Describe the artwork including the name of the artist, copyright holder, and date the work was produced.
2
Comment on the results of investigating visual images posted on the Internet and discuss how the image you chose was used on the site it came from.
