¡Buen viaje!: Level 1Chapter 14:
En el restauranteWebQuestEn el restaurante (3.0K)
Objective-
To familiarize students with Spanish restaurants
and menu vocabulary
Notes -
In Antes de navegar, you have to
tell swtudents what their food allowance
is in pesetas for their night out
in the Spanish city of their choice. Randomly
assign each student one of the following
amounts: 3,000 pesetas ($20); 3,700
pesetas ($25); 4,500 pesetas
($30); 5,300 pesetas ($35), 6,000
pesetas ($40), or other amounts
of your choosing. Please note that the
currency conversion rates are approximate.
If you want students to use exact amounts,
have them convert the dollars to pesetas
using the Currency Converter link
in Chapter 6.
- Since
students are on a budget, tell them to
go directly to the menus for each restaurant
to determine whether or not they can afford
to eat there.
- As
you know, restaurant vocabulary is often
very difficult. Encourage students to
do their best to figure out the menu as
they order dinner at the restaurant of
their choice. In the Después
de navegar activity, they are asked
to look up any unknown words from the
menu in the dictionary. They may be surprised
by what they ordered!
- Allow
students to write down any features of
the restaurant for Características
del restaurante in the chart on their
worksheet. They might want to describe
the food specialties, ambience, location
of the restaurant, number of rooms, etc.
-
Additional vocabulary useful for this
activity:

entradas, entrantes
primeros
para comenzar,

Expansion - Have
students download and print the restaurant
information and menus from the restaurant
they chose for this activity. Then have
them use the information to do Actividad
comunicativa A, En el restaurante,
on page 437 in the textbook.
- Have
students write a composition about their
dinner at the restaurant.
