¡Buen viaje!: Level 1Chapter 3:
Las compras para la escuelaWebQuestDe
compras
(2.0K)
Objectives- To
compare clothing prices and styles in
the United States to those in Spain
- To
identify and describe articles of clothing
- To
state color and size preferences
Notes - In
this activity students want to look "cool"
when they travel to Spain so they are
checking out the styles that are popular
with Spanish teenagers.
- There
will be many choices on the screen. A
click on an item pictured or on the name
of an item not pictured will bring up
a screen with more detail. If the item
they wish to find is not listed, remind
them they can type the name (in Spanish)
in the box below Buscar and then
click to search.
- Clothing
items will vary with the season.
- You
may wish to have students try to figure
out their sizes in Europe. On the screen
with each item’s detailed description,
the bottom line comprueba tu talla
will take them to the size charts. Since
all measurements use the metric system,
you may want to use the guide below to
help them decide.

Expansion - Ask
the students how many of the Spanish words
for fabrics and patterns they were able
to figure out. Have them look up the ones
they didn’t understand. The types of fabrics
mentioned will vary with the season.
- Have
students download and print out a photo
of their favorite article of clothing
and write a description of it in their
own words in Spanish. Collect the descriptions
and redistribute them to the class. Post
the photos around the room and have students
take turns reading the descriptions aloud.
The class can try to guess what article
of clothing is being described. This activity
can also be done in small groups. See
which group is first to successfully match
all their descriptions to the pictures.
- Students
can work with partners and describe the
clothing each is wearing. A "fashion
show" with students reading aloud
their descriptions could be presented
live and even videotaped for viewing later.
- In
Actividad 10, ¿Qué es?,
on page 83 in the textbook, students are
asked to identify the items of clothing
shown. Have students guess the prices
of this clothing, then have them go to
the Venca link andidentify
similar itemsand their prices
to compare. They will also need to go
to the Currency Converter link
to convert pesetas into dollars.
