The Nature of MatterUnit Project 1Introduction: The name laser is an acronym for Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation. There is a wide variety of applications for lasers today, including in medical treatments. Task: Have students read and learn more about lasers and their applications using these sites. They will then use a spider map to organize their information. Instruct them to include safety concerns and precautions. Alternative: Have students create poster-size spider maps. They can include drawings and photographs on their posters to add visual interest.
