"The Russian Revolution"
IntroductionThroughout its long history Russia has been ruled by czars, or emperors. In the early years of World War I, the Russian military endured defeats in western Russia. As the war continued, food shortages caused starvation. People blamed the czar for their problems and were heartened by Lenin's cry of "peace, land, bread." In this activity, you will take a closer look at the causes, effects, and key leaders of the 1917 Russian Revolution.
