Introduction In this chapter you have read about the movement to ensure equal opportunity and equal treatment for all Americans. Many well-known heroes led the fight for civil rights—Martin Luther King, Jr., Thurgood Marshall, Rosa Parks. Others are not as well-known but were also important in the fight for equality. The struggle for equal treatment for women is also part of the civil rights movement. In this activity you will learn more about important individuals and accomplishments in the women's rights movement in the last 50 years.
