1		Blake's art and his poetry were intricately entwined. To learn more about Blake's life, click on this link to nine bite-sized pieces of his life. What did Blake accomplish in 1794, the year in which "London" was written? Were there any elements of Blake's biography that seemed contrary to his role as a poet?



2		To hear an audio version of "London," click on this link. As you listen, what impressions do you have of the city that Blake describes? Do you notice any repetition in the poem? What purpose might such repetition serve in this poem?



3		At his death, William Blake was regarded by many of his contemporaries as insane. Click on this link to read some of the aphorisms that made him notorious among his peers. Choose two or three to discuss in the context of "London". Do you think Blake's logic was consistent throughout his life?
