Chapter Overview

Astronomy, or space science, is the general study of all celestial bodies in the universe—the planets and their moons, stars, comets, meteoroids, asteroids, and interstellar clouds of material.

In this chapter you will learn about space science by studying the following concepts:

  • life and death of stars
  • origin and evolution of the solar system
  • origin and evolution of the universe
