Essentials of Anatomy & Physiology, 4/e
Rod R. Seeley, Idaho State University
Philip Tate, Phoenix College
Trent D. Stephens, Idaho State University

Overview

Designed for the one-semester course, Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology by Seeley, Stephens, and Tate helps instructors accomplish one overall goal: To teach the basics of A&P while fostering the skill of problem solving. Through learning how to solve problems and think critically, students learn A&P based on two themes: the relationship between structure and function, and homeostasis.

This text is intended to provide an introduction to anatomy and physiology, with no prerequisite knowledge in chemistry, physics, or cell biology expected. The concepts specific to these fields that are necessary for understanding anatomy and physiology are presented in the text. Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology is an introductory-level text designed to provide enough information to allow students to solve basic problems without including volumes of non-essential facts. It strikes a well-contrived balance of anatomy and physiology, providing a solid background in anatomy that supports a comprehensive treatment of physiology. Seeley, Stephens, and Tate present, in the text and illustrations, basic content at an appropriate level and in a way that fosters the development of problem-solving skills that emphasize the practical application of concepts to real-life situations.
