Visit Human Resources Development Canada's site at http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/eng/home.shtml. The site contains valuable information on a number of topics from work search assistance to training and career planning tools. Explore these areas at your leisure.

Click on the "Labour and Workplace" link. Here you will find links to the actual legislation mentioned in your text. Click on "Workplace Equity" for example and read about the Employment Equity Act. When did the act come into effect? What are the employers' obligations?

Next, find the "Employment Standards Act". This gives you first hand info on everything from minimum wages to sick leave to vacation pay. Can you, for example, find out how much vacation pay or vacation time you must be given by law?
