Case Studies
(See related pages)

In all the chapters the Case Studies represent situations similar to those that the medical assistant may encounter in daily practice. Students are encouraged to consider the case study as they read each chapter.

One of the patients in your medical office has an insurance plan that covers 95% of his charges. He has already paid his yearly deductible of $200 for this year. He came into the physician's office to receive physical therapy three times a week for one week. Each visit is charged at $42.

As you read this chapter, consider the following questions:

1. What is the total owed for this patient's visits?

2. How much of the total is not covered by insurance and should be billed to the patient?
