As a medical assistant, you are reviewing the charts as you prepare for the next day's appointments, and you notice that a female patient who is scheduled for her routine gynecological checkup has a flag on her chart because she has bilateral cataracts.

As you read this chapter, consider the following questions:

1. What are bilateral cataracts, and why would this condition be a consideration when you come in contact with this patient?

2. What instruments should be assembled for the physician to use during the examination?

3. What disposable and consumable supplies may reasonably be anticipated for use?
