Whether a patient comes for a regular checkup or to have a problem diagnosed and treated, the physical examination is the first step in the process for the physician or practitioner. During the physical examination, the medical assistant must make the client comfortable and assist the physician as necessary. A skilled medical assistant who is sensitive to patient needs plus proficient in performing these skills can create an atmosphere that results in a positive outcome for the patient during the physical examination.
