Dear Colleague:
We are writing you -- and instructors nationwide -- to express our
gratitude for the welcome reception our writing handbook, A
WRITER'S RESOURCE, has received.
The response from Composition instructors, and from faculty across
the academic landscape, has been gratifying. It has confirmed our
belief that research and writing in 2003 are not the same processes
that we learned when we were undergraduates (don't ask how long ago!).
At the same time, the faith that teachers have placed in our book
-- which must first and foremost be an accessible and reliable reference
for writers -- has been humbling. We are honored by your confidence.
This Fall, as departments and in some cases entire campuses embarked
on a new academic year with A WRITER'S RESOURCE, we have not been
contented to rest on our laurels. We are regularly expanding the CATALYST
online material (adding such sought-after elements as a tutorial on
visual rhetoric and another on avoiding plagiarism), and the personal
digital assistant download of the handbook is now available (see link
below)! We are also working with our class testers and early adopters
to develop and expand the text for a future hardcover edition.
Finally, please join us in thanking the reviewers who are most responsible
for the final shape, content, and success of A WRITER'S RESOURCE --
our students.Without them -- their curiosity, their struggles, their (sometimes
unfettered) evaluations -- our work would be without purpose and soul.
They are our inspiration, and their success is our goal.
We send you our personal good wishes and solicit your suggestions
for ways that we might serve you even better. If you would like to
request a copy of the new MLA Update version
of A WRITER'S RESOURCE, please fill out the request form
