The CAB contains more than 1200 questions based on the material presented in the student text, with each of the 12 chapter banks pertaining to the corresponding student chapter.
The question types include: Multiple Choice, Completion, Matching, Short Answer, and Problem. Each question in the CAB is correlated with the appropriate chapter, section, topic, and Curriculum Outcome from the WNCP Mathematics Curriculum for Grade 8.
The following features are incorporated in the design of the McGraw-Hill Ryerson MathLinks 8 Computerized Assessment Bank to facilitate the building of a worksheet, a test, or an exam that best suits your class. You can enter your own questions, edit the questions, and customize the appearance of the worksheet/test/exam you have created in the ExamView® software. Please refer to the Manual in pdf format provided on this CD for details.
Each question has an answer provided and displayed under “ANS,” or a suggested answer for a variable student response.
The difficulty level is displayed with each question under “DIF.” Difficulty levels include Easy, Average, and Difficult.
i. Easy questions are skill-based (procedural) and are ones that the majority of students should have success with.
ii. Average questions include both procedural and conceptual questions.
iii. Difficult questions include procedural and conceptual questions that require students to apply multiple concepts or procedures. Difficult questions often require students to justify their answers.
iv. Each chapter also has a number of Difficult+ questions that challenge students beyond the curriculum outcomes. Most chapters have eight to ten of these questions.
The chapter and section where the skills and procedures for each question are learned is displayed under “OBJ.”
The Strand and Outcome(s) that a question satisfies is displayed under “NAT.”
The topic(s) is/are listed under “TOP.”
For every question, there is a keyword or a phrase, such as “misrepresent data” or “equivalent ratios,” which is displayed under “KEY.” Many questions have more than one “KEY.”
The ExamView® software allows the choices in multiple choice questions to be scrambled when printing multiple versions of the same test. Some multiple choice questions have fixed answer options and are set as “Scramble: None” for easy readability.
For a written response question, such as Problem and Short Answer, the ExamView® software allows you to assign a reasonable answer space based on your expectations of what your students will need. The amount of space is your choice.
All diagrams in this assessment bank can be copied and pasted onto a test or an exam in Microsoft® Word.
Possible answers are provided as support for assessing variable answers.
