Chapter Overview

This chapter discusses software as an instructional tool. Differences between computer-assisted instruction and computer-managed instruction are given. Terms such as public domain, shareware, drill and practice, problem solving, simulation, and games are defined. Criteria for selecting and evaluating quality software are explained, and a plan for organizing a software library is described.
