  1. Choose one of the issues below and search the Internet for both "pro" and "con" arguments. Print at least one document from each side of the issue that you select.
    1. Should states permit medical use of marijuana?
    2. Should the World Wide Web be censored?
    3. Should immigration to the United States be limited?
    4. Should states privatize prisons?
    5. Should companies use polygraphs (lie detectors) to screen job applicants?

    Possible Strategy: Use archives of newspapers and magazines (see Chapter 6 for addresses).

  2. Using the Internet improperly at work can get you into trouble—and even cause you to be fired. Find and print an article that gives at least three examples of misuse of the Internet in the workplace.
  3. Possible Strategy: Go to a search engine, such as Google (www.google.com), and use these keywords: "Internet workplace misuse."
