  1. In the winter moth life cycle the two moth parasites were found to be a less important cause of mortality than mortality due to winter loss and predators. Give an explanation based on evolution.
  2. Many people enjoy backyard bird feeders and feel that they are helping animals by providing needed food. Many more people unintentionally feed animals by leaving garbage cans and recycling bins where animals have access to the contents. But when we intentionally or unintentionally feed wild animals we are changing the population dynamics of local wildlife. What animal behaviors (and thus species with that behavior) are selected for? Which are selected against? How can feeding animals decrease diversity of local wildlife?
