A number of organizations in the world strive to anticipate future technological and social changes in the world, so that they will be better able to shape these changes and prepare for them. One such organization is the Centre for European Policy Studies (www.ceps.be). Visit their site in order to find out about their areas of concern.

Link to "research areas" at the top of the page, and browse through the topical areas on the left-hand side of the page. Answer the following questions:
  1. What kinds of issues are of concern for this organization?
  2. Would an American organization have a different set of concerns about the future? In what ways might it be different?
  3. Is what you have seen on this site consistent with one or more of the theories of social changes you've learned about (conflict, functionalist, evolutionary)? Why or why not?
