Clubs   Many civic organizations—Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions—have regular luncheon meetings at which invited guests give short talks. Sometimes these talks are newsworthy. Club officials often welcome student guests. A class could ask permission to attend for practice in speech coverage.   A number of other organizations usually hold regular meetings at which there are lectures or talks. The Audubon Society, the American Association of University Women, the League of Women Voters, the Sierra Club and many other national groups have local chapters. At times, the guests are men and women of some prominence.   Attend one of these meetings and write a story of 300 to 350 words. |
