Many men walk away from court-ordered child-support payments, and little is done in many states to make them conform to the orders. Some men owe as much as $15,000. State governments report they are collecting on less than 20 percent of 13 million cases, and the case rate continues to grow.
Make a search to see what different states are doing about these missing payments. Blend with the situation in your state. In New Jersey, which has some of the toughest child-support laws in the country, the state can withhold child-support payments from paychecks, and the state notifies credit agencies about parents who are delinquent. What are the laws in your state and states nearby?
If possible, find a family affected by the failure to receive child-support.
