Students will go to the CNN Web site to read about the estranged relationship between the United States and Cuba and the resulting embargo. They will learn about the history of the embargo, hear from its supporters and critics, and learn about the affects of the trade embargo. After visiting the site, students will answer four questions. They will apply what they've learned by creating a list of pros and cons for maintaining the embargo and arguing their position on the embargo in a short essay. Instructional Objectives- Students will describe the history of the embargo and provide information on the controversy surrounding the issue.
- Students will be able to apply what they have learned by writing an essay detailing their position on the embargo.
