The Prevalence of Obesity: Populations of Special Concern

Information on current rates of overweight and obesity is available from the following sites:

The http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/obesity/ob_home.htm National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute's Clinical Guidelines on the Identification, Evaluation, and Treatment of Overweight and Obesity in Adults provides information on rates on overweight and obesity among many different groups of Americans and how the statistics have changed over the past four decades. It also provides background information on the current BMI standards for defining overweight and obesity.

The CDC has information on http://www.cdc.gov/growthcharts growth charts for those age 0-18 years; these are used to assess weight in infants, children, and adolescents.
