Virtual Labs:
Virtual Labs are recreations of actual scientific experiments. Students are given background information on a topic, an explanation of the researcher's observations, and an overview of how they set up their experiment. The student follows the data collection process and is then asked to answers questions regarding that data. Students have an opportunity to read the original research paper before and after doing the experiment to gauge whether his or her understanding has increased, and to make the student more comfortable working with primary sources. In addition, interviews with principal investigators allow students to meet modern researchers.
