Turn off the daylight and horizon displays. Open the “Display” Palette and turn Galaxies on, NGC/IC and Messier off. Use the “Selection” button and click on “Find.” In the window type in Virgo and then click “Find.” The display will move to the location of the constellation Virgo. Zoom in until the field of view is about 45°. Galaxies are shown as small greenish-blue circles. Count the number of galaxies in the field of view. This may be easier to do by toggling the stars on and off using the stars button at the top of the display. Repeat for the constellations Coma Berenices, Orion, Cygnus, and Aquarius. How can you account for the different numbers of galaxies seen in the different fields?
