Group Activity

In the late 1940s, a group of astronomers proposed the steady-state theory of cosmology. The crucial feature of the steady-state theory was that the universe has always looked about the same as it does today. The theory proposed that new matter is spontaneously created from nothing and collected into new galaxies at just the rate required to fill the gaps left behind as existing matter is carried apart by the expansion of the universe. Working as a group, try to come up with some ways that the steady-state theory could be tested.
