Take the Defensive vs. Supportive Communication Climates Test

Discussion Learning to recognize the difference between defensive and supportive communication takes a certain commitment. Part of becoming a competent communicator is deciding to be more mindful of how we communicate with others. As the text suggests, trying to eliminate all defensive communication immediately is a pretty tall order. Try instead to focus on one or two defensive patterns. Decide to be mindful, commit to substituting more supportive responses and take it from there.
