Helen Binsovich Announces Cross-Country Run for Peace

Helen Binsovich, a 13-year veteran actress on the daytime soap opera "All the World's Children," became an anti-war activist after a 2004 trip to Baghdad. "I didn't see how the conflict would end," Binsovich said. "I felt like I had to do something but didn't know what. When I returned, I was running around the track at the local high school and I realized that I was literally running in circles while our foreign policy was doing it figuratively. I decided to break out of the circle, and I'm asking Americans to join me."

For these reasons and more, Binsovich today announced she is running from Santa Cruz, Calif., to New York City to raise money for the American Peace Experiment, a nonprofit anti-war organization based in Las Vegas, Nev.

Pulling a lightweight trailer emblazoned with an 800 number accepting donations, the 40-year-old actress will run 15 miles a day, completing the 3,000-mile journey in a little more than six months. "I can't believe I'm going to be carrying that damn thing with me," Binsovich said. "Oh, well, I guess it's for a good cause."

Binsovich is hoping to draw attention to the thousands of American soldiers and Iraqi citizens who have died in the conflict in Iraq since the American invasion in 2003.

Binsovich's cross-country trip is being generously sponsored by Bokimbito Studios, an independent film company owned by Richard Bokimbito. Her run is also sanctioned by the American Peace Experiment.
