Roger Alexander, a biochemist who is chairman of the Friends of Nature, a national conservation organization, is in town to organize a state chapter. You are sent to interview him. He is 38, a graduate of Syracuse University, where he took his bachelor's and master's degrees, and Indiana University, where he received his Ph.D. He is married, father of two children—boy, 6, girl, 9.
