Every so often an educator lists the books he or she says every educated person should have read. Some schools require their students to read from a list of what they call the Great Books. Usually on the lists are some of the plays of Shakespeare, the novels of Jane Austen, James Joyce, Charles Dickens.
     These lists change with the times. In recent years, more women authors have been added, along with the voices of minority authors.
     Check your faculty members for their recommendations and blend them in with what you learn from your search. Include changes in the lists.
