B. Dangers   Examine the annual report of the traffic department of the state highway department. Usually, records are kept as to the location, day of week and time of day of fatal accidents on the state's highways. There also is usually a listing by cause. See whether you can find any patterns in these fatal accidents. To do this, set up hypotheses and check them:
Are weekends more dangerous than weekdays?   Are the evening hours more dangerous than daylight hours? (Do not ignore differences in traffic volume.)   Are some parts of the state, some roads or highways more dangerous than others?   Is speed, alcohol, snow, rain or some other factor a major cause of fatals?   Have the authorities developed a test for drivers they suspect of driving under the influence of drugs?
