Obituaries

Introduction

The obituary section is one of the most thoroughly read parts of the newspaper. The obituary is a summation of the person's life, a record that becomes part of the community's history.
The obituary focuses on the accomplishments of the deceased and includes the cause, time and place of death. Survivors and burial plans are also included. Sometimes, survivors ask that certain information be withheld from the obituary. Usually, such requests are turned down.
