     The college campus has a long history of incidents of bigotry. Blacks, Jews and recently students from the Middle East have been harassed. Homophobic incidents seem to have lessened. Track down incidents of racism, religious persecution and homophobia around the country and blend with the situation past and present on your campus.
     Material about homophobia is available from GLAAD, Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, www.glaad.org. Anti-Semitism is tracked by the Anti-Defamation League, www.adl.org. Local and regional chapters of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), www.naacp.org, can provide information about racist incidents.
     Distribution of hate literature does not fall under the category of a bias crime. But many colleges and universities have rules about such behavior, usually in a speech code. Trace the controversy about these codes as well.
