Chapter 6 Chapter Summary
(See related pages)

The dual focus of Chapter Six is graphic art (or "fine art" printmaking) and graphic design (especially the mass-media art of advertising). Various major printmaking techniques—woodblock, engraving, etching, aquatint, lithography, screenprinting—are introduced and placed in art historical and sociocultural context. The second part of the chapter examines modern and contemporary advertising with a critical and art appreciative eye.
