Using Sources Accurately
(See related pages)

In addition to using correct documentation, you must be careful to ensure that you present the information from your sources as accurately as possible. Omitting words from quotations in such a way that the source's meaning is altered is unacceptable; omitting information in paraphrases and summaries that alters the source's meaning is unacceptable; and offering an inaccurate interpretation of your source in a paraphrase or summary is unacceptable. If the source's words or meaning do not support your argument as fully as you might like, find another source that does.
