Make Love Not War
(See related pages)

In order to avoid the consequences of war, both personally and socially, many people believe in the idea of peaceful opposition to violence and war. Approaches to pacifism can take varying forms such as universal pacifism which opposes all violence, to those who support defensive war but not aggressive war, to private pacifism, which opposes individual violence, but which would support military aggression to counter criminals and aggressors. There is a long history of pacifism, based primarily on religious ideology and led by individuals who abhor the violence and destruction of aggression. And while many people may dislike the results of war and violence, few do anything about it. Some, however, are willing to be arrested, to spend time in prison, and to be politically blacklisted for their beliefs.
