Exercise 1: Finding Arguments, Evidence, and Testimonials

Go to www.msnbc.com/news and find what articles are listed as "Web Exclusives," the current headline stories. Now click on "Opinions" to see how many items you can find in which experts are expressing opinions on issues of the day. These stories with evidence, arguments, and testimony are possible contributions to your persuasive presentation as long as you cite them in your speech.

Exercise 2: Finding Broadcast News and Features

Go to www.cbs.com to find print and e-mail text from 60 Minutes, 48 Hours, 60 Minutes II, and all CBS broadcasts with a search function. See if you can find feature stories related to your topic, stories that can provide you with valuable information and ideas for your persuasive speech.
