  1. Despite the publicity about AIDS prevention, health authorities report:
  • The incidences of some venereal diseases, a pathway for HIV-AIDS, have increased.
  • The incidence has increased among black gay men.
  1. Out-of-wedlock births no longer result in society ostracism, but some authorities say such births are responsible for social, health and educational problems among children in single-parent homes.
  2. Infant mortality rates have declined, but the gap between black and white rates remains constant, more than 2 to 1, black infant deaths to white infant deaths.
  3. The birth rate to teenage mothers has been dropping steadily. Why?
