Clergy

     Many communities face problems in their search for clergy for their churches and synagogues. The pool has shrunk as fewer choose a religious career, and even among those who do a number prefer to work outside the pulpit. The shortage is felt most severely in rural and inner-city churches. Ten years ago, said the dean of a seminary, his graduates found few openings. Today, he said, there are three job offers for every graduate.
