A. Pap Test
The city health department has released a study on preventive medicine in Freeport and your editor instructs you to write a series on the findings. One of the articles will concern what Jane Jacobson, director of the department, describes as "a dangerous situation for Freeport women who do not have routine Pap tests."   Jacobson said interviews with some of the women found that they would have had the tests but could not afford to do so. Their health plans, they said, did not cover the tests.   Here and on the next page are two key graphs from the Freeport study you should use in your article of 250 words.
B. Consequences
Trustees of Mallory College have been considering a 27.5 percent increase in tuition to $25,500 a year. But some members of the faculty have objected that the increase would prevent too many students from applying. The Sociology Department made a study that concluded: "Any significant tuition increase would shut our doors to the disadvantaged and the different." It issued a graph (see below) that the department head, Margot Adler, said "is evidence of the problems we already face, problems that would worsen with the adoption of the proposed increase. We find most black and Hispanic students are in the low parental income group."   The trustees meet next Tuesday. Your editor wants a 250-word story that uses the material in the graph.
