Critical Thinking
(See related pages)

Each chapter closes with Critical Thinking Questions (listed below) as a review of chapter material that focuses on the role of the medical assistant.

1. What is your weakest area in writing? How might you improve? Create and complete a project that helps you improve your weakest area.

2. The physician tells you to make sure that all patient letters that address withdrawing the services of the practice are “well documented.” What does the physician mean? What would you do?

3. Imagine that your coworker is out sick. You must make sure all the work is handled. Which is more important—typing referral letters or sorting the mail? Why? How might you proceed if you are responsible for both but don't have the time to complete both?

4. Make flash cards from Table 7-1 and Table 7-3, and quiz one of your classmates. Which states or terms do you find difficult?
